Stitch
I cannot be that man for one more day
So tired and alone
So I kiss his cheeks, close his eyes and send him on below
And I wait here for salvation knowing none will ever come
As I put to rest the half truths and lies by which I will be known
And I stand again as I was born
Naked and alone
It's no ones job to be my mother, shrink or savior
Each piece of this is but a seed I've sown
So I cry upon his rigid, cold, dead shoulder
Kiss his cheeks, close his eyes and send him on below
And I lay down with a final sigh
As my tired eyes are closed
And feel the lips that spoke the only Truth I've ever known
Distant skies are no longer so distant
Old no longer approaches, but weighs me down like familiar stones
Pain is no longer a traitor, but a friend by which I am defined and known
Each smile to cross my face now feels stitched on
